Kantbe Wednesday Sometimes

submitted by Kantbe Thursday

The Second Life Surfing Association (SLSA) Big Wednesday Surfing Comp Classes have been pretty darned popular. So popular, in fact, that some are having to be held on different days. It has been suggested by someone (who shall remain anonymous) that they now be called the SLSA Big Kantbe Wednesday Surfing Comp Classes.

For those of you who haven't heard about them, Mick Lunasea has been having classes at the SLSA's sim, Archipelago, to help people know what to expect before and during competitions. Mick's classes usually take about 1.5 hours and answers those universal questions like:

How the heck do I find out when and where competitions are held?
You mean I have to register? How do I do that?
I have to PRACTICE? What should I do?
GEESUS! There are judges? I didn't do anything wrong! What are they for?
What else do you guys do during a competition?

Wow! All this and it's free. The SLSA only asks that if you find the class or any activities at Archipelago valuable or fun that you toss a Linden or two into the donation bins on the beach. I think they mean Linden dollars, but I've not been able to confirm that yet.

If you're interested in these classes and other activities of the SLSA, keep an eye out for notices, forum posts, Upcoming Events on the SLSA's website. Heck, you can even do an inworld Events Search for SLSA.

Tauri's Tidbits and Sticky Situations #7

We were recently having a convo about Second Life (SL) situations and talking about SL etiquette - is there such a thing? You know, the kinds of things you run into in SL and are not sure of the proper way to handle. We'll be periodically posting these dilemmas and looking for genuinely constuctive feedback on your opinion. If you have a comment or a dilemma of your own, let us know and we'll add it to the list!

Dilemma:

If your parter is on vacation for a week and logs in world and doesn't contact you for 2 days, should you consider this a bad sign? And how do you split up your SL goods in the event you un-partner, if you have goods that you purchased together?

The Pursuit of Perfection

submitted by Arjuna Bombastic

“I surf for the speed … the thrill ... the excitement … its all so addictive” whispered Fonda Fogue between breaks. The next big thing to hit SL Surfing, Fonda was showing me how to navigate through the sexy, slender half pipes of Bonduran Beach, warm and golden from the dancing hues of a glorious sunrise, West of Ireland.

Paddling out to approach the waves, my mind begins to phase shift.

There she is in all her glory, breaking the calm of a rippleless surface, unrestricted power coursing towards the sandy beaches where she finally lays to rest. My heart begins to pound as I get closer. The carnal need and seduction of taming her, of creating my dance upon her breaks … intoxicating.

I hit the surf and ride out. Each break, I get to know her better. She is different from the rest. She is special.

And so begins the relentless pursuit, wave after wave, for that ultimate ride. Understanding her, how she responds to my touch, controlling my movements, synching my every living fiber to resonate perfectly with her vibrations, allowing me to harness her energy, to manipulate her form, to make her sing to my command as we perform together the dance of a thousand dances, my personal Masterpiece.

I have to have her, I have to make her mine.

We are all here for various reasons. Enjoying the calm beauty of the beaches, goofing around with friends and loved ones, creative self expression limited only by what the wave chooses to share with us, moments of solitude where we can listen to ourselves think against the sound of crashing of waves across rocky breakwaters, just to name a few.

Surfing is a personal experience.

For many, just like myself, there is a need for that addictive sweet emotion of triumph and conquest when we shake our booty jiving, cutting, shredding and carving to our own special tune upon a living, breathing dance floor with a mind of her own. The world fades to black leaving only us and the wave … The perfect ride.

Our dreams, Our imaginations, is Our reality.

My name is Juna, the baby of Team SurfWatch, and I look forward to sharing my thoughts and experiences along this trip of a journey that is SL Surfing with you.

Enjoy the pursuit of your personal experience and perfection.

Selamat Jalan,
Juna

Mari's Mailbag: Nature Dreams

submitted by Marianna Monentes

I wanted to tell you about this exceptional sim that I have been going to recently. It's a place to totally unwind. Nature Dreams sim has native plants and spectacular daisy meadows. You will also see many refreshing waterfalls where you can dance or go inside the cave and be a little more intimate.  The trees are exceptionally colorful, vivid and stiking.  Add underwater explorations to your trip and enjoy colorful fish and underwater ambiance.

What I love most is the feeling of spiritualness one gets when visiting. They have chosen an excellent music stream that blends exquisitely with the nature that surrounds you.  Stop by and enjoy some peace.
