Responding to Second Life Surfing Association member Abel Halderman's post in the SLSA Forum, the Association today informed that SSI beta surfboard scripts will not be permissable in the JJ Lanes Shortboard Epic at Morant Cays this coming Saturday.
According to the SLSA, the board of directors voted on the matter and ruled that SSI Surfboard 5.6 and 5.8 board scripts are not available for general access and therefore cannot be used at the Morant Cays competition. The 5.6 and 5.8 scripts include new features being tested by SSI making it easier to execute some tricks (like rolls, for example) and the beta boards behave differently to those with the commonly available 5.1 and 5.2 board scripts.
Meanwhile, just 28 surfers have registered for Saturday's event, which has a total of 40 competition places. The JJ Lanes Shortboard Epic is the second event in the SLSA's 2008 Season II and takes place at Morant Cays 1100hrs SLT on Saturday 20 September 2008.
