Three surf events, three winners

Last weekend proved to be nothing less than action-packed with three surfing contests taking place over Saturday and Sunday. The Vibrations Surfing Alliance Surf Jam 7 on Saturday, the Surf City Open on Sunday morning and the ABSSL's third full event of the year starting later on Sunday afternoon.

Colleen Brennan (see pic right) walked away from the weekend's first surfing competition on Saturday with her second VSA Surf Jam win in a row. Colleen won her first Surf Jam in August on Majini Island and also took first place at the TCH Surfers Open earlier last month. Colleen was followed by Wilfrid DeCuir who came in second, Kim Henig who came in third and this year's other two-time Surf Jam winner Buffy Munro.

Crusader Arado (see pic left) won the top spot on the podium at the Surf City Open on Surf City South Beach on Sunday.

"The Surf City folks did a great job putting the event together. And that the support for the riders always amazes me," said Crusader. "Second Life surfers are a great family that I'm proud to be a part of. It was a great day and, as always, I have Team Tsunami to thank for helping me get the job done."

Cursader was successful in fending off stiff competition in the form of QUENCH Spotter who scored highest in the event's semi-finals and finally came second overall. VW Sands and WickedV Carver were close behind and took third and fourth place respectively.

Meanwhile, Vana Loire took the honours in the third leg of the ABSSL (Associação Brasileira de Surf no Second Life) Brazilian Surf Circuit held at Crab Island on Sunday. Mya Yalin came in second, Danyllinho Aker third and Guiloan Graves fourth. Pauinho Stoop and Ammie Graves fell in in fifth and sixth place, however they retained their first and second place in the Surf Circuit season's table.

With so much competition at August and September's events so far, its impossible to predict who will manage to shred their way onto the winners' podium at next weekend's SLSA Shortboard Competition at Morant Cays. Registrations opened yesterday for the Morant Cays event and so far 24 surfers have already signed up.
