Colleen clinches Surf Jam 6

Colleen Brennan won one of the closest surfing contests of 2008 at Majini Island last weekend, beating the competition by just a decimal place to take first place at the Vibrations Surf Alliance (VSA) Surf Jam 6. "The competition was incredibly tough, amazingly close, but a tonnes of fun!" confirmed Colleen (see pic, right) after the event.

Second place Crusader Arado was awarded one of the two highest scores in the preliminary heats (18.50) and then scored high again in the semi-finals with a 18.75, with Bonheur Chanaux Colleen both scoring 18.875. All three surfed consistently well throughout Surf Jam 6, but in the end there had to be a winner and Colleen managed to squeeze past Cru's finals score of 18.375 by 0.41 points, with Bon coming third with 18.00.

Colleen and Crusader came first and second respectively at the TCH Surfers Open earlier in August, although neither made the finals at the SLSA's first Season II event at Boneyard with Colleen getting knocked out in the heats and Crusader finishing in the semis. However, there must be a few people asking 'where the... did
Bonheur Chanaux come from?' Bonheur didn't compete in SLSA 2008 Season I at all, but was nominated as one of the Reef Riders Surf Team's five designated team scorers at Boneyard finishing with a sixth place and now taking a very respectable third at Surf Jam 6. One to watch out for in September's competitions!
