SLSA elects new directors

Tauri Tigerpaw and VW Sands join SLSA board

Second Life Surfing Association (SLSA) members voted in two new board directors this week. Tauri Tigerpaw and VW Sands will now join Ashleigh Dickins, Colleen Brennan and Sally LaSalle on the SLSA board, replacing outgoing directors Milo Voss and Radical Twang who have both now served their full terms.

"I really want to thank Rad and Milo on behalf of the membership for sticking with it and keeping the SLSA going though some difficult times," said Sally LaSalle, SLSA director. "Those boys have done a lot of work behind the scenes, a lot of which goes unnoticed."

Rad and Milo were voted on to the SLSA board in March 2008 and helped steer the SLSA through the Havok4 code change in April/May, which proved to be a major upset for Second Life surfing, and through the SLSA's constitutional crisis in May, not to mention adjusting to the unexpected disappearance of Ritch Goalpost in March soon after he was elected.
Rad and Milo will be now be designated as 'SLSA Advisors'.

According to the SLSA, 39 eligible SLSA voters cast their vote this week. VW Sands received 38 votes, Tauri Tigerpaw received 30 votes and Rianne McCullough received 10 votes.

"I would like to thank the SLSA members for allowing me the chance to serve the surfing community as a director in the SLSA," said VW, who is also Bishara Estate Manager and Vibrations Surf Team Owner. "I´m looking forward to the challenges and I hope I can be as efficient as the directors that served before me. Thanks again!"

"Through working on interviews and articles for SurfWatch, I've gotten a front row seat from the players involved in the start up and continued growth of Second Life surfing," said Tauri (see pic right). "Charting the history of where it came from and looking forward with excitement to wherever it could be headed, I'm thrilled to be a part of it and honoured to be a part of the SLSA."

"I am really looking forward to working with VW and Tauri, both of whom are already great contributors to the sport, I'm sure they will bring some fresh ideas and enthusiam and it should be a really fun team to work with," added Sally. "Finally thanks to Rianne who missed out this time, but she is already doing a great job as an SLSA judge."
