Ashleigh's Advice #3 - Octoberville

submitted by Ashleigh Dickins

Now that I’ve got the In-World volume 6 behind me, and in front of you, I’m going to take a few minutes to do more advice! It’s finally fall, my favorite season, I love the colors and the clothes. October is the start for me of the most wonderful time of the year, a non-stop flow of holidays that provide gifts and excuses for food.

In SecondLife one of the early staples of this time of year is Octoberville. Octoberville is actually a game, a detailed hunt with clues and a plot, that takes place in a sim called PixelTrix. The sim is completely taken over by a spooky, dangerous town filled with ghastly images, spiderwebs, pumpkins, and vintage charm. To start the game you simply go into the Police Precinct, right on the corner of the landing point, and pick up your detective kit from the officer’s desk. For the game you are a detective with the Octoberville Police investigating the spooky happenings of the town, and why so many spirits seem to linger. If you need help there are avid fans who dedicate their time as roleplayers, who add to the richness of the sim, and are willing to give a new gamer a point in the right direction.

I definitely advise checking out Octoberville, and be aware that it can be quite laggy due to so many people, so it's best to strip down like it's a competition. Also be aware that the hunt takes quite some time and consists of mini games to unlock some of the items. Also the sheer # of items takes up a good deal of time scouring the sim, I recommend breaking it down over days. If you’re not much for hunting Octoberville is still worth checking out for the visuals, intricate builds, haunted house and of course, the Octoberville Express train ride through the sim.

Teleport to Octoberville.
