Seismic activity caused by normal interactions between the
Pacific and Australian tectonic plates has resulted in a shifting of some of
the rocks in Surf Cove at Playa Perdida.
This happens periodically, but thankfully there has not been a
destructive tsunami, and the waves are as smooth and reliable as ever. Surfers should be aware of the change in
conditions, and should use caution, and perhaps an old board, until they have
acclimated.
