that your not really sure what was meant so ya just kinda nod and keep on? Could have been a typo you reckon. That or maybe an East Coasty (or West Coasty) slang word that you've just never heard.
Have no fear! The following list (mostly West Coasty as I´m a west coaster) will help you fill in the blanks. While not nearly complete, there are surely hundreds more from "local" breaks, these are used pretty often in both RL and SL.

"Aggro" - Attitude problem
"Aloha" - Greetings, Love, Welcome
"Amped" - Excited
"Ass-monkey" - Kook, Knucklehead
"Bail" - Jump to save your life.
"Baggies" - Loose boardshorts
"Baked" - Stoned, high, Zoned
"Barrel" - Tube
"Break" - Surf spot
"Barney" - Inexperienced surfer
"Backside" - Ass to the wave face
"Betty" - A surfer girl
"Clique" - Locals Only Group mentality
"Custard" - That white foamy stuff that gathers around your ankles
"Close-out" - When the entire wave collapses at once
"Cranking" - Good waves, good conditions
"Dawn Patrol" - Early morning surf trip
"Doggy door" - Exiting the small hole left by a closing wave
"Drop in" - A criminal offense in surfing, taking the drop when you don´t have prio.
"Eat it" - Wipeout
"Epic" - Top shelf conditions, Heathers giant wave
"Firing" - Waves are going off! Or..."Firing"
"Froth" - See Custard
"Frube" - A surfer that sits in the line-up and never paddles in
"Gnarly" - Dangerous surf
"Green room" - Inside the tube
"Grey Belly" - Old surfer dude, (see VW in-world)
"Grubbing" - Falling off your board
"Hang Eleven" - Dude naked surfing
"Hodad" - Beach bum
"Inside" - Whitewater foam mush near shore
"Keg" - See Barrel, Tube
"Kook" - No explanation needed but....don´t be that guy.
"Landlord" - Sharks
"Line-up" - The waiting area just outside the break
"Log" - Longboard
"Men in grey suits" - See Landlord
"Mushburger" - Poor quality, slow, powerless waves
"Noodled" - Exhausted
"Out back" - Beyond the break
"Overhead " - Waves that are bigger that a surfer when standing up
"Party Wave" - A wave surfed by several people at once
"Pitted" - In the tube, shacked
"Pocket" - The most powerful spot in a wave
"Pumping" - to generate speed, Good waves
"Rag Dolled" - Getting dragged to the bottom, washing machined
"Rail Bang" - Taking a crotch shot from your board
"Reef tax" - Cuts and scrapes taken (paid) in shallow water, aka "Reef rash"
"Rock Dance" - What ya do when ya have to navigate rocks to reach the water
"Santanas" - Offshore winds in Cali but used now worldwide to describe offshore wind
"Shacked" - Completely covered in the barrel, see Pitted
"Shoulder Hop" - Dropping in on a surfer who is already up and riding
"Shubie" Someone who buys surf gear and clothing but does not surf, Poser
"Sketchy" - Erratic, opposite of "smooth"
"Snake" - A snake takes waves, no respect
"Stacking" - When the waves are getting bigger they are "stacking"
"Stoked" - Very happy indeed.
"Surfia" - See "clique"
"SUP" - Stand Up Paddleboard
"Swell" - Solid waves (not wind mush)
"Trim" - Not THAT trim ;-), keeping your board "trimmed" in a perfect angle down the line
"Tube" - No brainer but...see Barrel.
"Wahine" - Surfer girl
"Washing machine" - Getting turned over and over in the wash
"Worked" - I got "worked!" See above
"Yew" - As in Yeeeeeeeewwww!, SL= WOOOOOT!, excited scream kinda deal
"Zogs" - Board wax (brand)
Again, just a few words that may make your next convo a bit easier to.....translate ;-)

"How was it out there?" Dude it's EPIC!. Only one Grey belly on a log hang eleven and a couple frubes in the line. Starting to stack though so they'll prolly be crabs soon.
