Are You Seeing Double? C-TOO, The New Shack Surfboard

Submitted by Kantbe Thursday

SurfWatch has noticed a new Shack C-series surfboard on at least one surfing beach.  We had an opportunity to catch Shack Shaprira, creator of the C-3 surfboards to ask a few questions about it.

SW: I see what seems to be a new Shack surfboard on the Oasis of Life beach.  Is that correct?

SS: That is correct. It's the new C-TOO. It's based on the C-3 board, similar animations and the same turns and tricks.

SW: How is it different from the usual C-3 surfboards? It seems to be quite a bit shorter, but is there more to it than that?

SS: It's a much smaller board that the C-3 and built specifically for the little folk in SL. I'm not talking about just a small version of the standard SL avatar but specifically for the mesh child avatars ( the toddledoos and cuties ). These avatars are not only much smaller than the standard SL avatar, but also need different positioning for the animations. If they try using a standard surfboard, they tend to have a huge gap between their feet and the board and even if that's corrected they don't fit centrally on the board. Once the size issues were sorted, I then had to re-script the board surfing dynamics.Tiny AVs on tiny boards didn't work at all well with the C-3 scripts. I also removed the 3 separate performance options but added a board re-sizing option.

SW: So, they’re designed specifically for a child AV? Is there some maximum AV height that won’t fit quite right with the board? What happens if a normal adult sized AV uses it?

SS: As I said, it's too small for even the smallest standard SL avatar. It'll work as a surfboard but the avatar just doesn't fit well on it.

SW: Are these now available for purchase, or is this a special arrangement for Oasis of Life?

SS: The C-TOO is now on sale in my in-world shack. .. I've made the beach rezzer which will go in there soon. I've yet to put anything for them on the second life marketplace.

SW: Thank you for the information and your time, Shack.
