Mari's Mailbag: Forgiveness

submitted by Marianna Monentes

There comes a time when we all must forgive and move on. Holding grudges is not only burdensome but closes doors that were once open to possibilities. I see time and again dramas unfold and feelings hurt. In Second Life (SL) when it occurs, people always quickly defriend and hold anger then spread the gossip. So uncool. It's better to leave the person on your list...give it a few days rest and then perhaps try to resolve differences. Forgiveness is typically defined as the process of concluding resentment, indignation or anger as a result of a perceived offense, difference or mistake, and/or ceasing to demand punishment or restitution. To me, forgiveness is the greatest thing a person can do for another. No amount of money can replace the act of forgiveness. You will find too, that by forgiving, there is a deeper trust that grows between people.  It shows them you are open to mistakes and can gracefully accept them when they fall short in your eyes. Perhaps too, it can be that you were wrong about a situation and not them. Soften your stance in life. Open your arms. Hugs are sometimes needed more than harsh words and resentment.

Thank you Mari. I know you are true to your words too as there have been times you have forgiven me. I always look forward to the mail bag.
