SLSA Tai Sharkbite Shortboard Invitational Heat Draws for May 22, 2010

as posted at www.surfslsa.com 5/20/10 5:06 AM SLT

The Tai Sharkbite Shortboard Invitational will be starting at 11:00am sharp - Heat one check in at 10:45 please!! Each heat will take about 30 minutes. Make sure you are there for your heat. We ask that all surfers be off the beach and in the stands at 10:45am to ensure we are able to get everyone set up and in place to start promptly. Each Heat is 3 waves per Surfer, including the Semi-Finals, anticipated to be 3 Heats long. The exception is the Finals which are 4 waves per Surfer.

Please be sure to reduce lag by detaching your excess attachments and removing ALL Scripted attachments if you are competing. While spectators are not forced to do the same unless it gets really bad out there, it is highly recommended in order to have a more enjoyable experience. Feel free to bring along friends and have them watch from the spectator stands! While we encourage you to cheer on your friends, please remember that gestures can spam chat if they are multi-lined, and the audio files needed to add any sounds are then force downloaded by all of the listening avatars, which ads to their lag. Basically, be considerate of everyone there, don't be wearing a scripted ball gown, sculpted and scripted hair, and shoes that bling and make walking sounds when everyone else is in swimsuits, barefoot, and as close to bald as they can get.  (I have seen that yes, but not at a surf comp. At other laggy events.)

Most importantly, Please do not touch or edit/edit-touch any equipment during the competition. This includes official SLSA equipment such as the Marshall relay, the judge's scorebox; also the waves, or competitors surfboards, and be sure your friends know not to do this either. It will result in an immediate warning which if not heeded will result in further security actions.

Now! Here's the heat draws, this time I learned my lesson and there are less surfers per heat. I hope this one runs more smoothly than my last go. Good luck to all the competitors and staff. May the waves be fast and whole, may your boards stay afloat and turn swift, and may the Lindens take a day off and not screw with the servers! Oh, and may we all not crash. In Philip's name, amen.

-Ashleigh, Head Judge!
