When will the XSA, the VSA,and the MUST schedules come out? I thought there was a XSA event on the 15th. Is everyone coordinating dates? Surf Love is all about collaboration and consideration for all surfing groups and even tho I do not compete I'd like to see all schedules sent into SurfWatch so I can plan my advertising budget for the season. thanks!

The XSA does have a comp scheduled for Aug 15th and was announced on SurfWatch last week as tentative. We are deciding what we will do, we are flexible to a small degree, but most likely there is going to be overlap of comps. Only available August Saturdays for myself are Aug 15th and Aug 22nd. We have considered a Sunday comp, but are unsure and will finalize our date by next week. We actually picked our date because we didn't expect conflict, i was mistaken thinking SLSA didn't start until September.

At this time we don't have a "season" we are more in line with a laid back approach such as VSA, though this may change. Our advertising will be based comp by comp. Most likely there is a good chance that comps will overlap, SLSA uses two weekends per month, that can be hard to avoid. The community is large and diverse and comps in the past are pushed beyond capacity.

SurfWatch has been in touch with XSA, VSA and MUST and are available and looking forward to adding their schedules to the 2009 Surf Calendar. You can also check their websites for additional information.

VSA hasn't set a schedule yet for Season 2. We wait for the SLSA comps to be set then schedule around them. New comp format kinda messed us up this last season but look for some coming Surf Jams! :-)

Well I guess it is hard if everyone has to wait for SLSA to announce then "work around" them. I am a member of SLSA so this is not a critique. I'd like to say tho that it would be nice if SLSA would collaborate with VSA, XSA, etc FIRST then everyone can be happy when comp schedules are released. I know SLSA used to be the only game in town but they no longer are and well perhaps they should be asked to collaborate with the other groups before announcing their schedule? Is there some doctrine that makes SLSA the be all end all to competition schedules thus making everyone else at the mercy of their schedule? Again this is not knocking the SLSA as I am a member...just questioning how things are currently done and suggesting they might consider changing for the benefit of all surfers on the grid. Thanks for listening.

The VSA waits out of respect. The SLSA was here well before us and it's no problem for us to wait that extra bit of time. Our comps are laid back and easy going and much easier to organize and put together than something like the comps the SLSA does. When you are looking at 24 riders or so as opposed to 60+ riders, it's a no brainer for us.

I know it can be frustrating but that is just how we have always looked at it. See ya on the waves :-)
