New Spots on the Grid (April 09)

To get on the list, contact Socks Clawtooth in world

If you want to find the places with that "new beach smell", this is a shortened version of what's new in SL surfing as of this edition of the guide. The full list has all of these, as well as the old standards. But here are the additions if you don't feel like wading thru the whole list:

What the codes mean:
(E/P/F/S/R) 1 Location name/(landmark)
The number denotes what revision the LM was added on. The letters denote wave types found at the beach. Epic, Pipe, Fluffy, Sunset or Ron John. Many places have multiple styles depending on the day or the mood of the sim owner.

LISTING:

(T)4 ASAYAKE Beach, ASAYAKE (217,150,21)
The beach is a medium size break but the fun part is they run an old school "Teahupoo" style wave! This is the first gen "sunset" and is a multi-prim sculpty. No music tho, which is a personal downside. But it's fun to ride this one.

(P/F)4 Azure Destiny (239,124,23)
A really fun sim to walk around, this place has a nice dual synched pipe with the usual fluffy suspects with it. Rez area near TP point - look for the sign. But walk around the sim! LOTS of stuff here. Oh, and the dolphins are not only friendly, they'll give you a ride if you ask them nicely.

(P)4 Beachmice, Kryten (102,62,23)
Way under the radar, a pipes only run. No frills, but that's fine. Easier to practice the weird stuff here with minimal lag.

(E)4 knowhere, knowhere (94,6,20)
Some would argue that you can never have enough of a good thing. But as any kid with a tummy ache can tell you, you certainly can. This is a good example, if not an impressive one. Knowhere is the only place that I've ever seen an "Epic" of, well, epic proportions. This is the home of the 8 panel epic. No, seriously, this thing pretty much goes from edge to edge of the sim! If you can never get enough epicness, this is your kind of place. But 8 panels? You gotta WORK to get from side to side of this monster! (Damage enabled area).

(P/F)4 Montego Beach - Rez Area, Sands Point NW (5,121,21)
I put the TP point right into the rez area here for ease of finding. Seemed a little laggy when I visited, but it may be my connection. Single pipe and a few million fluffies. There's an epic rezzer out there, so they may go epic sometimes, too. But when I visited, it's a nice casual ride.

(P/F)4 Namiko Surf Co. Flagship at B, Namiko (124,76,25)
Flagship sim of "Namiko" surfboards and a nice surf spot to boot! It's got two unsynched pipes moving at angles to eachother, and two fluffies with a pretty fast wave regeneration speed at similar angles. The play potential here is huge. And while you're here, check out the ski hill next door! Great atmospherics, too. It's a trip to surf at night! Do bring your rain gear, tho.

(F)4 New Kaizen Shopping Plaza, Kissena Park (158,241,22)
A short fluffy run shown to me by VW Sands (so thank you there!) It's surrounded by shopping so sit awhile and let it all rez.

(F)4 somewhere, sea pilgrims (153,240,22)
This is next door to "knowhere" and it's just as over the top. It's a 2/3 sim fluffy ride. The location seems to be a "beach rental" and I chose an LM that was far enough away from the main house that it shouldn't intrude. But still, it's a REALLY fun ride if you're into fluffies.

(P/F)4 Tuli Bahari - Tranquil Ocean, Tuli Bahari (127,157,24)
The "other half" of Mori, this is the newer area of the small cluster. As much as I miss Pepo, this makes up for it. Unsynched pipes/fluffy run that's diagonal for space. No open rez, so if you're not a member of "Vibrations" surf group (and if not, WHY NOT?!?!?),you can jump over to Mori, rez your board in the rez area there, and paddle over.

General disclaimers

The opinions expressed with the landmarks are purely of Socks Clawtooth and nobody else. At least that is unless they hacked it in which case this could say anything. I'm trying to be unbiased here as there's a LOT of places to surf in SL and each one is, surprisingly, different which is why I add my notations. I would encourage you to sim hop, take in a safari, and see what else is out there. You might find something that I missed. And final disclaimer: I'm not responsible for anything you might do that's silly or stupid. This list is available for FREE and is not to be resold, even for L$1, under ANY circumstances! Pass it along but DO NOT SELL this! There. It's been said.
