Announcement from Monkey Cove

Posted in the Monkey Cove group:

Hi to All!

Most of you are familiar with Monkey Cove and the different evolutions of Monkey Cove over the last 10 years. I have all ways worked on different concepts, but usually for others.

Well...since becoming officially partnered in SL, I’ve gained not only a partner in my SL life, but also a design partner!

Bryn and I have been working on a few different Sims to create areas where people can come and enjoy exploring the unbelievable diversity that is Second Life.

Please feel free to explore every part of the each of our sims. Nothing is off limits during the next few months as we welcome you to our Open House/Open Sim Tour!

After that, we will limit access to our home - but you'll forever be welcomed on any of our sims!

We have such a fantastic time designing them and we invite you to come enjoy them with us. There are always fun things hiding all around and we'd love to have you come by and have fun discovering them!

***SPECIAL NOTE***
We are also having a Photo Contest!

For this round, the prizes are as follows:

First Place: $L 5,000
Second Place: $L 3,000
Third Place: $L 2,000
4th – 6th Place $L 500

***RULES***

1- Photo has to be shot on one of the sims included in the tour (There are 3 sims at this time:

A. Wilderness (an enchanting four-seasons SEASONAL sim that changes as the seasons change!)
B. Peace (a mind-blowing, lush, tropical oasis you have to SEE to BELIEVE!)
and, of course,
C. Monkey Cove! (The hands-down BEST surfing and chill spot in SL - but I'm a bit biased.)

2- You can take any type of picture you'd like. The photos will be on display on all three sims, so remember that everyone will see your pictures. And, of course, good taste should be kept in mind. As these are Moderate sims, partial (tasteful) nudity is acceptable. Adult content will be ineligible for entry into the contest.

Also, by entering the contest, of course, you agree to your work being on display for the duration of the contest and beyond perhaps. If you would prefer that your photos not be on display after the contest just let us know and we'll delete them from our inventory.

(Bryn says: If you do the Flickr or Plurk or blog thing, we'd be stoked if you'd give your followers/minions/readers a way to find us in-world. Not required, but man, would that be so nice of you! If you want to let us know we've been mentioned somewhere, that'd just be icing on the cake. We'd love to follow you on whatever platforms you're using!)
[Editor's note: Monkey Cove now has it's own Flickr group]

3- Only 3 entries per person. Entries can be sent to either myself (Syx Toshi) or Bryn (Bryn Bulloch / Bryn Bulloch-Toshi). Bryn is online a bit more than I am, FYI. So if you're excited to have your pics posted quickly, Bryn might be your best bet.

Remember to correctly set the permissions on your submitted photos so we're able to put them on our contest boards!

4- Deadline NOVEMBER 15th, 2018. Winners will be notified via notecard and announced in the Monkey Cove group on or before November 20th, 2018.

5- Photos will be juried by the two of us. In the case of a tie, we will ask a member of the Monkey Cove group who has NOT entered the contest to break the tie.

We are excited to have you come tour and enjoy the sims and have fun taking photos for the contest! Please let us know if you have any questions or need anything at all.

Mahalo,
Syx

***NOTE FROM BRYN***

Hey, hey! Go get that drink you've been wanting to grab and take a potty break or whatevs... You're gonna be here a minute if you care to read the rest. ;P

First, let me take a sec to thank you in advance for coming to visit our "sim babies"! Syx's eye for detail and blackbelt landscaping skills still impress me after all these years. He keeps saying we're a team, but he does all the heavy lifting for sure. I promise you will be wowed and amazed at all he's done. I just sling prims around and make them "homey". The artistry is ALL him. Smh...

Now, let me tell you how we've kind of envisioned this first sim tour of ours...

We've never done this before, so if you see something that could be done to make our visitors' experience even better, PUH-LEEZ give me a shout (you know the drill... notecards preferred...IMs get capped... yadda yadda yadda).

So... we have made notecards for each sim with landmarks for you to follow if you'd like to do the tour that way - but we HIGHLY suggest doing the tour on foot so you can immerse yourself in all the great things each sim has to offer.

Here's what a friend suggested... she took the sim notecard, tp'd to each of the landmarks in sequence, then went back to the first LM on the list and tried to "connect the dots" on foot.

Or, you can just use the LM names as sort of a "scavenger hunt" and try to find them on foot without directly TP'ing to them. Whatever feels great to you and makes you feel like you're having fun!

A thought... as you tromp around and you spot a place you'd like to maybe take a photo, LM that sucker and keep on going with the tour if you'd like. That way you're not stressed about having to find the location again.

Be sure to change your Windlight settings to various times of the day, too! Each sim has a different personality as the sunrises and falls over them.

True story.
Remember - you'll always be welcomed on any of our sims! Come visit us as often as you'd like! Bring a crowd - use one of our "party spots" and throw that friend of yours a Rezz Day Par-tay! We WANT you to! And remember, if you're a sucker for Gachas, you can set your re-sale items on the tables rent FREE. I do all the "advertising" for you. Just a way to help fellow Gacha addicts like us unload their extras.
And hey, for the time being, you can even make yourself at home in any of our houses! Peek in the medicine cabinet... open my microwave and judge me by the state of cleanliness it's in... jump on our beds...(JUST jump, plz. Nothing else, mk? :P ) ... peek in our drawers... play with the baby's toys... Come on over!

We are super excited to open our sims up for everyone to enjoy! You've probably been to Monkey Cove a time or twenty, so you know Syx spares NO expense when it comes to designing environments for others to enjoy.

Well, you just have to come see what he's done on the others! HOLY MOLEY!

Here's something some folks don't even realize about the places Syx designs - he makes each of them literally come to LIFE. Things that buzz, chirp, hiss, howl, croak, bark, cluck...

Wind chimes... ancient prayer bells... trickling creeks...

I swear I can sometimes smell the flowers and feel the breeze at Peace.

Or get downwind of the horse stalls at Wilderness. :/

Some of my favorites?

The lemurs at Peace (see if you can catch them "dragging their butts" across the ground... I die. It never gets old.).

Wilderness... the turkeys in the woods. The moos of the Highland cattle (I love their stinkin' faces so MUCH!) ... and our darned dog, Duke - the Great Dane puppy who will, more than likely, mow you over either at Peace or at Wilderness. Duke TPs back and forth on his own. He's like the smartest dog in SL and stuff.

Monkey Cove... Mamma turtle and her babies have long been close to my heart. See if you can find them! Have you explored the amazingness UNDERWATER there? Get your SCUBA on at Monkey!

Just be sure to turn your sound on. Take a minute to breathe and relax at each place. They're truly all living, breathing things to me... built out of love and a desire to share.

We hope our sims will be places you come to to have a fun time with friends or enjoy a quiet walk around by yourself to unwind. Please visit often as we add, change and do lots of fun switcheroos all the time.

Should you have any questions or need anything at all I can help you with, please reach out! I'm always happy to help!

Namaste, y'all,
Bryn
