A New Revolutionary Way to Compete Emerges

Submitted by Solsty Kismet
Photos Courtesy of Harmony Sandalphon

SLurfers constantly looking for the next best thing, keep reading!  There's a new competition emerging at HummingBird Point. Inspired by Real Life competitions, HummingBird Point Owner, Shilow Carter created a Free Style surfing competition where a surfer competes against a clock and one competitor in order to advance to the next round.

HummingBird Point is an innovative design that focuses more on frequent and fun waves, with a stretch of land between, offering any experienced surfer an immensely entertaining ride. In the spirit of its unique design, Shi hopes to offer people a chance to try something untraditional in the Second Life competitive surf world.  Carter heavily respects the already in place competition circuit that runs almost all year long, but was hoping to start a new trend to complement the surfing community.

The deadline to register is Thursday, October 26, 2017 but the competition itself doesn't start until November 4th. So there's plenty of time to get familiar with YOUR board and the wave. That's right, surf any board you want.

Here's how it works:
"You go against the clock, not 3 single waves..... you surf for 6 mins" Carter explained while on location to gather information (and sign up, of course). "You can go from wave to wave and you surf against one opponent. You have to win the heat to advance".

When asked about the length of the competition, Carter explained her tentative schedule, "It may be possible the heats may go over a couple of weekends or even during the week if everyone can turn up that needs to be there." Only the judges and the opponents need to attend to have the heat, but spectators are welcome to watch from anywhere on the sim.

Surfers are excited to see this new era of competitive surfing blossom and hope that surfers across the grid participate in the advancement of the sport we all cherish.  Shilow Carter urges that all competitors read the information provided at HummingBird Point Notice Board very carefully to understand all the aspects.  Contact Shilow Carter inworld or on FaceBook for questions.

    Pertinent Information:
Deadline for Registration:  October 26, 2017
Start of Competition:         November 4th @ 11am (flexible)
    Prizes:
            1st Place: 5000L and a surfboard
            2nd Place: 2000L and a surfboard

Fashion Focus: Real Vs. Fake3

Submitted by Valerie Lavender

There's more to the Second Life (SL) surf scene than the wave.  Beaches are full of dudes and babes checking each other out and checking out the latest in beach fashion.  Stay tuned for Valerie's regular series on fashion.

SPECIAL VALLY MEME FOR OCTOBER!
BUYER BEWARE!
IS YOUR CHANEL HANDBAG A FAKE?
Do you know how to tell a fake CHANEL HANDBAG from a real one?  It's easy to spot a couple of things right away. You will never see a hang tag on a real one.  Yes they may slide one in the box but it will never be attached to the handbag or other item. There will always be a fabric lining on the inside of handbags..  If you ever need help identifying a fake from real I can help you if you provide RL photos.  You can also google Chanel real vs fake and get quite a few sites to help.  Don't ya just love Google! lol

Fruit Islands

Submitted by Dillan Munro

Those who enjoy water-oriented activities beyond surfing, including boating, sailing, scuba diving, jet skiing and wind surfing will find heaven in the group of 120 connected Sims known primarily as the Fruit Islands. Marinas to dock your boat abound, and there are large areas of water unencumbered with any land at all for open boating. Sailboat races are frequent, and several boat stores are located within, giving the sailor plenty of high end boat options.

Additionally, private planes and helicopters have unrestricted airspace there, which provide a very scenic way to tour the beautiful lands.

When you tire of the sun and water, as if anyone would, there are other opportunities as well on shore including dancing, live music, quiet cafes, and sight seeing options including castles. The literally hundreds of islands are inhabited mostly by those with a love for water, and in fact it is so appealing my partner and I bought our own private island there.

There are at least two beaches contained in the complex that offer surfing, Bumrose Beach and Frozen Banana. Frozen Banana is the larger of the two, with waves that start at one end of the sim and continue on to the narrow beach at the other end. Bumrose beach provides more beach, and adult activities are allowed and encouraged there, as opposed to Frozen Banana which is more family oriented.

Bumrose provides many little hideaways for lovers to experience each other somewhat privately, and of course is an Adult land. There is a small lagoon as you make your way through the jungle from the main beach, with plenty of places for cuddling, and more, as well as some tree top facilities with great views.

Frozen Banana is a General Sim, so keep your suits on and your hands to yourself ! The waves are above average, and the scenery is great with plenty of waterfalls and gentle beaches to relax on. A volleyball net can be found back in a secluded bay, with lounges and umbrellas to break the sun. There's a board rezzer and even a landing strip if you should happen to fly your plane in.

Look for the adult marina, where there are plenty of exploratory spots for the adventurous. Shops, pools, lounges and other risque locations are scattered throughout. Be wary of lag here, as there are many high quality yachts with large script counts.

One could literally spend weeks exploring this area, and I for one plan to do just that !
